For whatever reason I thought it would be a great idea for my first half marathon in a year or so to be in March. Unfortunately, that means training in the dead of winter. When it comes down to training, I tend to wear the same comfortable items…Sugoi MidZero Tights, Nike Compression Bra, Lululemon Cool Rackerback, a long sleeve shirt (either Lululemon Run Swiftly or if it is really really cold Craft Mock Long Sleeve), and a Mizuno wind breaker. I am not as you can see a brand loyalist. I spread the wealth depending on my needs.
A few weeks ago, I received an email from activewearusa asking if I’d like to review some of their products. New workout clothes? That are stylish? What girl could say no? I rationalize my need for more workout clothes because I work from home and these are in essence also my work clothes.
I received an all-purpose Stella Crossback tank, solid pink with white straps. They are not joking when they say it was great support. I was surprised at how high the neck came up, but loved the slimming fit of the top. The tightness and the color created a small exposure problem, so even though a second bra wasn’t necessary for support when I was doing yoga, I needed it for a little coverage. (I am thinking a darker color would be a different situation.)
When using it as my base layer for running, it didn’t ride up like some of my other tanks, which I loved. So now that I have told you all about the tank, would you like to win a little exercise style?

my exercise gear routine for winter is wearing pajama pants & a t-shirt cuz i hit the treadmill indoors for 30 mins per day – or about 1 mile.

I wear t-shirts under sweatsuits, and if it’s cold enough, a ski jacket. This has been an unheard of warm winter in Michigan, where I can run without a coat!
I liked ActivewearUSA on facebook.
I wear an old (and somewhat ratty) Northface sweat wicking long sleeve shirt, and a pair of Nike running tights. I hate gloves, so pretty much never wear them. I always wear a baseball hat, to keep my hair out of my face!
Every summer my family and I go to California and I have to say, I get some of my best runs in. Those morning foggy chills are perfect!
Sorry, I mean to mention my GEAR in my exercise routine. Some Sunday mornings are very chilly (in the 30s, that’s very chilly for us Californians!) so I wear a long sleeve shirt with a fleece sweatshirt on top with fleece gloves and a fleece headband to cover my ears. I wear just regular running pants. As long as my top is warm, my legs are okay.
My winter exercise routine consists of:
Mon-Fri 2-3 nights of Zumba and at least 2 mornings of running on the treadmill at the gym. I take Saturdays off. Sundays are long runs in a local park with my running buddy. I live in Northern CA so the winters are mild here and the only thing really keeping me from running outside all the time is the lack of daylight when I’m not working, hence, the 2-3 days at the gym. Once spring/summer is here, I do it all outside.

Hoodies and dressing in layers all the way!
I don’t think I am familiar with Tough Girl, I will have to check them out. I just bought a pair of gloves from Lululemon that have little pieces of fabric on the thumb and forefinger so that you can use your ipod. They changed everything for me!
How are you handling running in the altitude change? I bet that was a huge shock to the system.

I am all about hoodies and dressing in layers when it comes to winter workout attire. I am in need of an apparel re-vamp, though! Thanks for the chance to win!

All about the layers! I just moved to Colorado a few months ago so I’m still getting used to the climate here. I was in Charlotte for five years so it differs but here its a completely different and can’t live without base layers.

I usually go with a long sleeved performance tee, covered with a thicker short sleeved tee and my favorite bottoms are my Tough Girl skirted pants from SkirtSports. Add a fleece headband to cover up my ears and some thin gloves with a couple of fingertips removed so I can still use my ipod touch and I’m good to go!
I am all about the pockets to store the gloves once I get warm…if I get warm (I usually don’t).
I have been looking at that hooded top. The hood stays on while you run?
My winter exercise gear involves a lot of UnderArmour. I have a pair of their compression tights that I’m in love with. They have a hooded long sleeve cold gear top that I wear if it’s really cold – layered with a Saucony vest. And my Under Armour hat (it’s hot pink and has a pony tail hole!)
For my winter exercise gear, I usually try to make sure one part (top or bottom) is light colored, so I don’t get hit by cars in Hoboken.
I don’t wear jackets. I’ll do running sweats, a t-shirt and then a zip sweater (so I can take it off if I get hot). Definitely 360s, and sometimes gloves. Will usually go without gloves though since I get hot easily and hate holding them.
